San Xavier Mission

We went on a field trip to the San Xavier mission today with a small group of homeschoolers. It's really an amazing place but I didn't take a lot of pictures.

Rebekah had a good time and met a girl close to her age so she was happy despite her look in this picture...

I'm still not feeling well and today seemed to set me back. This is a bugger.

Nothing major planned for the weekend. Kind of hoping to sleep and feel better.

Hasn't been a lot to post about

I thought this was hilarious - either they don't want to clean the Tupperware cupboard or they need money for something???

Another dumpster score!

Seriously? An 18 x 24 Fiskars cutting mat with NO marks - I can't even believe it, mine is back in Washington and was in my short list of things I wanted Grant to bring back!

The after...

Since I was home bound anyway today I got right to work on the table. Limited to colors on hand I made it the same as the desk refurb. I love the pop of color in my living room :)

Sick bah humbug

I may be sick as a dog (day 3), but it did not stop me from lugging this glass topped coffee table up the stairs to our apartment from the DUMPSTER. I'm going to paint it- "after" pictures to follow.

Grandma's visit is almost over :(

2 days ago we went to the small town of Tubac. Lots of shops but mostly the same stuff in every shop.

We had a fun lunch though and made some memories in the sculpture garden!

Yesterday grandma gave R some sewing lessons in the morning and then we spent an hour by the pool in the afternoon.

Last night A came over with little N and Grandma made her famous chicken and Dumplings. G has a cold which is a big bummer- Hoping he gets better quick and doesn't give it to me!

Oranges and scrabble

Yesterday started with 5 thrift stores and a garage sale. We fueled up at a little hole in the wall Mexican breakfast buffet (it was fabulous)

Then we came home at 1:00 to babysit little N while her Mommy and Daddy had a date so we introduced her to Scrabble (mom won)

When A returned she had a surprise for her Grandma - fresh squeezed orange juice from the tree in her yard for Grandmas drink. Grandma was happy!

Tucson botanical gardens

Yesterday was another beautiful day! We went to the botanical gardens and visited the butterfly house!

We also had lunch in their little cafe- it was delicious!

There was also a big sewing machine fiasco which involved this machine.

But ended with auch better machine and a sewing lesson from Grandma.

Tohono Chul

Today we took Mom to Tohono Chul. She found a big white rock which made her happy...

R and Mom played the chimes in the children's garden.

Lots of fun plants and trails and arches, so much we have to finish on another day because we got hungry

So we went to a Mexican restaurant and grandma introduced R to margaritas - virgin of course! :)

Mom had a real one - Ha!

We were supposed to go hike Honey Bee Canyon too but we got rained out - we opted to come back to the apartment and have coconut gelato instead!

Grandma comes to visit

Last night we drive up to Phoenix to get my Mom from the airport. It's very good to have her here for a visit. The above picture was taken at In And Out, which she had never been to before :)

Great grandma was happy to finally meet little N. She even got the rare privilege of giving her a bottle!

R and Grabdma had some other interesting moments today as R taught Grandma how to play speed...

And then challenged her to a planking contest - which I think Grandma won. I don't know there was a lot of laughing going on!

I can't wait to see what tomorrow's adventures will be :)

Garage sales on Saturday

The fun thing about Arizona is garage sales all year! R and I managed to find 2 yesterday and score some baby items for little N. Have you seen how much baby toys go for in the stores lately? This Nana doesn't fancy paying $12 for a rattle thank you vedy much :)

Then yesterday afternoon A came over and was here until about 8 PM - R is definitely enjoying being with her sister again and they truly do act like sisters.

I will spare you the video of them picking on each other at the table.

One of the outfits I found for little N yesterday was this one. It's sized 6 months and she's not even 3 months old!

Her Mama does a great job of breast feeding her, she's so healthy and growing fast! And a little nap in Nana's arms doesn't hurt either :)

Bean turns 10

This year R requested a Lego Friends themed birthday party. We made Legos from paper to put on the wall and everything was very bright!

She wanted a pool party cake so we used the actual Lego Friends and their pool slide for the topper.

We played Lego themed games...

Of course there were prizes! Little N won the first prize and she was quite pleased with herself.

After diner we did presents...

And finally cake!

She said it was the best Birthday ever, but she says that every year :) I love that kid!
