The Mac goes back

Tomorrow is d-day for the mac. I tried, I really did. But the fact that she just doesn't want to perform on the internet (despite a couple of fixes) is frustrating. I have enough frustration right now, thanks so much, I think I'll pass. So Grant is going to bring it back and exchange it for a regular laptop. Oh well, nothing ventured nothing gained. Maybe someday I'll learn on someone elses mac and then move forward with one of my own.

Anyway...the much anticipated (I'm sure) corn shucking pictures are here (on my laptop, not on the mac, because did you know the mac only has 3 USB ports which are all FULL with stuff it needs to operate? Ahem).

Also, I keep meaning to post this picture. Grandpa sends sugar cereal to Bekah because her mommy is so mean and doesn't buy it for her. Can you SEE the twinkle of joy in her eyes? When we opened the postal box and asked her who this was from she said...and I quote, "GRANDPAAAAAA (while jumping up and down) I AM HAPPY TO SEE THAT!!!". Love this self done hair-do too, don't you?

This is my last week at the office. We went and toured the new daycare today and I really like it so that should be an easy transition. Things are coming together. Ashley and my Mom will be here on August 3rd which is fast approaching. I have lots of stuff planned for my Mom so she doesn't get bored. My Mom can and does run circles around me so this is something I need to think about! Hi Mom, love you :)

No pictures on this post.

We didn't really do a whole lot of anything this weekend. Grant and I both felt tired and tried to just figure out where our energy has gone, as Rebekah danced circles around us and asked 5000 times "can we go somewhere?"....oh yeah, that could be where our energy went.

Friday night after work we took her to the Osh Kosh (?) store. Yikes, that girl better line up a good career because she is a serious power shopper. It's fun to see her make choices though. I saw a cute outfit and said, "ooooh Bekah, how about this?" hope all a twitter in my eyes. She wrinkled her nose and gave me the teenager look and said, "nah, I don't like that". Good grief, I thought I had a FEW more years before that started. She spied some $40 pink boots she really wanted and I said riiiiiiiiight, put it on your Christmas list. Seriously? She's three and a half.

Saturday we got up early and went to the farmers market. WHY do I always forget the camera when we go to the farmers market? I will have pictures later (still on the camera) of Rebekah shucking her first ear of corn, although I could not convince her to eat it. Sigh.

Sunday was a day of cleaning and organizing and I wish I had gotten more of both done.

I'll get those corn pics up possibly as soon as tonight, but no promises...right now I must go visit my good friend Ms. Starbucks and see what she might offer to buzz me thru the day ;)

A Job Offer

I got the call this afternoon offering me the posistion in the sample room of a quilt fabric manufacturer in Seattle. I am super excited because hello, quilt fabric!
I'm sad to be leaving the office and my wonderful boss, but the great thing is I'm not leaving her as a friend! So, I get to hang on to that part of my life. All good things! The person offering me the job said my boss gave me the best reference she's ever heard and I am very thankful for that.
I'm not sure yet when I start, I'm waiting for a call back from the supervisor on that. Things will change a bit though because I'll have a commute now, and Bekah may change daycare centers since the one she goes to now is 20 miles out of our way by the end of the day.
Lots to think about and fabric to dream about. Off to bed.

Electronics challenged

It's always something with computers. I grew up with computers in the classroom so it really shouldn't be that challenging... but it is. My laptop decided it was time to retire (or getting close), so Grant very graciously offered to buy me a new one.

I, in my infinite wisdom (why don't they make a font that reflects sarcasm?) thought maybe we should look into Mac's, because aren't they better for the whole multi-media thing? And isn't that mainly what I do? Pictures and hey, if it's made easy enough I could make movies of pictures and distribute them far and wide... like to Minnesota.

Anyway, remember last year when I was complaining (it was worse than complaining, I know, but we're G rated here) about Vista? Lets just say the Mac has a leetle bit steeper of a learning curve than Vista. Everyone assures me once I get used to it I will love it.

Now this thing has a built in camera. That's right folks... so without further ado, the result of such high technology in the Midbrod home. Hang on to your seat!

Randomness

A picture of Curly locks to get us started.

  • First of all, my own mother commented on my blog. This is huge because my mother loves computers as much as she loves grapefruit, which is about as much as most people love going to the dentist. Thanks Mom!
  • Secondly, most of you know I had interviewed for a job last Friday at a quilt fabric manufacturer in their sample room. I had pretty much written the job off as they had not contacted me and my attempts to contact them were met with slight indifference. So, I was surprised to get a phone call this afternoon asking me to come in Monday for a second interview which I should expect to last approximately an hour and a half. I'm very confused, and what am I going to wear?
  • Thirdly, hmmm thirdly I don't really have a lot more to say because I am tired and going to bed . But thanks for checking in!

Oreos at Lake Sammamish

Saturday we went to Lake Sammamish, not so much for the lake as for the open green space and playground :). We brought a little picnic lunch and spread out under a willow tree a few yards away from the playground so Bekah could run back and forth. Part of the picnic was "princess cookies" which were generic oreos with both pink and white icing.
I love this picture of Grant reading and Bekah in her new "princess chair" (are you sensing a theme to Rebekah's world yet?) eating her cookies.

Zoomed it in a little

Oh hi Mom, what cha doin' down there?

Hmmmm...I should get back to the playground soon.

Why yes, I do enjoy my Oreo's, why do you ask?

Sign of a good weekend

I've finally started reading again. Just light fluffy books but reading just the same. I forgot how good it felt to get wrapped up in another world for an afternoon.
The bag of cheerios represents low-stress snacking for Bekah while Mom and Dad sit back and enjoy their coffee. Good weekend, indeed.

Happy Birthday to meeee

Another year complete. I tried to remember what I was doing last year on my birthday, I think maybe we went out for chinese food back in Wisconsin? One thing that amazes me is that last year at this time I had never been west of the Rockies, and now I live here. So interesting the journey life takes us on.

The picture above is a gift my boss/dear friend made me. She made the paper with rose petals and lavender pieces and then added all of these wonderful words that make up my life. It's always interesting to see your life thru other people's eyes, she did a wonderful job of pulling in words that will make me reflect, smile, and even cry at times. Thank you, Kimberly.
My co-worker (and of course, friend) made me a beautiful necklace that I will try to get a picture of soon. She does fantastic work...amazing really!
I bought a fabulous triple chocolate mousse cake on the way home from work, and Grant and Rebekah both sang happy birthday to me. Grant made me salmon for dinner. This morning I opened a fun gift from my Mom and talked to her and Ashley on the phone. Yesterday my Grandma called. And my e-mail was full of well wishes from friends and family.
I am 35, and I am blessed.

Thinking

My fortune cookie from yesterday. Guess I better get some ideas!
And I don't care what anybody says about the authenticity of Panda Express's food, I love it. I especially love that it comes in a little box that I had nothing to do with preparing the contents of ;)

Lowes is dangerous...

...especially the garden department with a particular 3 yr old we know.

"WE NEED THAT! YES!" She says as she points to the $30 double fuchsia hanging basket. "It's a princess plant!". Okay, how do I say no to that? Of course it's a princess plant, and I was looking for a good excuse to buy a hanging basket anyway.

I also picked up a lavender plant. I don't know if it'll grow in a pot but I'm willing to give it a shot because I loooooove lavender beyond measure and I was never able to grow it in Wisconsin.

My mini-roses and basil plant from Trader Joes got new digs and I think I heard them sigh with relief as they uncurled their toes in the new spacious dirt.

That's the extent of my weekend gardening. Well that's not true, I transpanted a few other small herb plants into bigger pots as well but we'll see if they make it since they were QUITE unhappy with the length of their confinement.

Thanks for joining me
