I've been working on my new website, and it's a little more challenging than a blog. Who knew? Well, lots of people probably, just not me.

If you want a tutorial on how to sew a garland for the 4th of July, head on over to here and have yourself a look-see :)

There are a lot more tutorials and pages to come and I'll try to keep you somewhat updated, but you know how I am by now, so you should expect sporadic updating at best. Hehe. Enjoy!

Mini Martha

Good morning, Mom

(she tells me she checks the blog EVERY morning...I'm testing her now :)).

For your viewing pleasure today...mini Martha. This child LOVES gardening. This is the corner of the yard where we are nursing along baby trees, and she has taken to faithfully watering them.

It's a little watering can, which means....

lots of trips back to the hose.

But it keeps her happy!

And really, with this fashion sense...
gardening is just going to be one of many talents.

Fence progress report

It's coming along...all 4 sides have panels up.

The deer come by to check it out, they look it up....

and down...

(yes, he's INSIDE the fence)

Harvey is anxiously awaiting the day when the gates are installed and this step is
finished....

So he doesn't have to hang out on the chain anymore!
He's behind the swing set on the left.

What is it?

* edited to say: Ashley found the answer online, it's a Salmonberry. Good research Ash, thanks!

This brush is on the edge of our property, and so far no one has been able to tell me what it is. I don't know, but I love those little pink flowers :)

I know, I know...

Apologies for the lack of posting.

It's been terribly busy around here, but ....okay let me just say I've ALREADY been interrupted while trying to type these 2 sentences. Give you any idea?

Anyway, working on this fence, the yard, and the projects that you stumble upon that turn into more than you ever would have imagined.

I wish I would have taken more pictures. So far this is all I have for March!

Where are the pictures of all of the roots we've pulled? Where are the pictures of the trees we've taken out? Where are the pictures of hours and hours of kicking and catching that big orange ball? Where are all of the before and after pictures I promised myself I would take? Very good questions indeed!
Also on my plate; I'm in the process of developing a new website (not a blog), it's quite a process but I am getting excited about the possibilities of it. I am down 18.5 lbs, thanks to Curves and healthy eating, all of the pants I was wearing for the past 6 months have been donated, and I am now wearing old jeans that used to not fit.
Now that you've been updated....I need to get back to work! Thanks for checking in :)

First Ole, now Lena....

The child makes me wonder. Rebekah has strong Norwegian heritage, but she doesn't really know much about it because it's on Grant's Dad's side of the family and we don't have a lot of contact with his family. She doesn't know an Ole, or a Lena....WE don't know an Ole or Lena. There are no Ole or Lena in her stories or movies or computer games.

When she was about 3, we were on a jet boat tour in Deception Pass when she said just out of the blue, " I was sad when I fell off the boat". I said, "what????". She repeats, "I was sad when I fell off the boat and died". Uhm okay! Odd thing for a 3 yr old to say.

I think she was still 3, or maybe just turned 4, when she told her Daddy that she had a friend name Ole and he died. Grant asked her how he died, she said he ate too many cookies. Okay! Many times when we'd go by the Stadium High School in Tacoma she'd say, "that's where Ole used to live but he died now".

Now today in the middle of Costco (she's 5 now...much time has passed, right?), she says, "Mom, I need to tell you something". Okay, you just never know what is coming from this child.... " A long time ago I had a friend and she died". I said "noooo you didn't" (in a joking tone, because we had been joking up to that point). And very seriously she says "yes, I did Mom and her name was Lena". I asked her 2 times... Leta? Lisa? "No Mom, LENA". Right, Lena.

Tonight I asked her to tell Dad about her friend that died. She proceeded to tell us that Lena was a farmer, and she died while taking care of a horse. She wasn't holding it right and she fell and died.

I'm officially weirded right the heck OUT!

Wynoochee Dam

A couple of weeks ago, we unwittingly ended up at the Wynoochee Dam. We were looking for something else but no matter...instead we found this amazing place and had it all to ourselves! I imagine in the summer it's packed, judging by the number of picnic tables and fire pits.

It was a gorgeous sunshiny day.

The water was a beautiful shade of blue.

And best of all, I had thrown some stuff in the cooler "just in case" so we got to have a little impromptu picnic. Everybody loves a picnic :)
